That's the great departure for Costa Rica with two children, Zoe 4 years old Felix 16 months. The trip was expected for so many years. 5 days before Costa Rica, I had to make a small unplanned trip home to see my Grandmother ill with pneumonia. I left alone with Felix. It was a very tiring trip for Felix and me. Upon our return I had to pack immediately for Costa Rica because we were leaving the next day. Unfortunately, Dad had to go at IR at 10:00 pm because Felix had 103.08 fever. They found an ear infection. He cried none stop. Poor Félix, already exhausted from his trip to Canada, his ear infection and lack of sleep and he must leave for Costa Rica. Felix fell asleep just before the flight and at the beginning of the flight. Zoe has not stopped talking during the plane trip she was so happy. Felix for his part, was crying constantly. Me, the best of my best, trying not to lose the nerves. I was so eager to travel and I am so exhausted and stressed out that I have difficulty to enjoy the beginning of the trip. He found the hotel and my parents in law came at 9.00 tonight. Finally I can sleep a little.

Good night sleep and we drove to our first destination, Monteverde is in the middle of the rainforest, jungle and mountains. There is not much guidance on the roads. It goes a bit in the dark with maps and tourist guides. We crossed the mountains and valleys in the gravel roads almost impassable with the mini van we had. The road was very bumpy and curvy. I really got scared when we were shooting near the precipices with only one lane wide. I'm glad we arrived safe. We found the cottage called the Monteverde Cabanas Los Pinos. It is a beautiful little paradise in the middle of the jungle. We have three bedrooms and three bathrooms. In addition we can get fresh organic vegetables in their garden. It's fantastic. Zoe begins a good cough, but Félix begins to get much better.

We went walking in the jungle with the children and then we went to town walking. This was not the idea of the century as the cars roll by turning the crazy street corners. I find myself a bit irresponsible to do that with my kids but it's a good lesson not to do. Early release day to do the grocery shopping and good food and fresh vegetables from the garden. Wow that Costa Rica is beautiful.

Jake is sick, he has not eaten all day. We took a long walk in the woods my stepmother and children. I was really surprised to see Zoe make the trek and Felix market a good party too. I'm still impressed. The view was spectacular in the jungle. We went for a ride the monorail in the jungle. Oh God, It does not seem very safe. We did not really like the structure and funny noises and sparks coming from the monorail didn`t left us secure. But everything was done and we are still alive to talk about it. Jake and my stepfather had a good scare. We ended up with a good coffee. Quiet dinner at the cottage and a good card game to end the evening.

We went to visit a coffee farm. It was a complete tour how to process coffee and cane sugar. We loved this tour. It was a tower of mini mini sleigh pulled by two oxen. It was close enough behind them and let me tell you when they "? *%"! & It’s stinky. We had a good coffee and we did our sweet candy. An extraordinary turn. Very relaxed evening.

Another beautiful day in Costa Rica. Finally we left early to go at 7:20 for a train ride into the mountains to see the landscapes and the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. The train is fantastic and the view is simply gorgeous. We even saw a little of the Arenal volcano and lake. We had a walk in the woods. It was truly a sight was breathtaking. Back at the cottage we had lunch and we left for the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. My stepmother and I decided to walk an hour and a half to see a little of the forest. We saw our first monkey. Finally I went alone to see the point of view that was a little further. The view was breathtaking. I was exhausted by cons because I did not want to make my family wait down the track for me, so I ran a party of the hike. My legs are dead but had a good physical exercise. Good sleep, I'm exhausted.

What a long day on the road. We left for our second destination, Playa Guinea. The beach and sun. The road was once again very difficult. 2 hours of gravel road but the scenery breathtaking. Poor Zoe, she was sick on the road. Difficult to find the hotel, we even had to cross a river without a bridge. We really believed to be lost but finally we found the hotel after only 6 hours of traveling. Zoe was still sick once arrived at the hotel. It is not easy routes for children. It's very hot here but the beach is beautiful and the waves are huge. Exhausted from traveling, I went to bed at 7.30.

I hardly slept. First, I'm not used to sleep with such warmth and the baby also cried every hour. This morning I really had no energy. I went to the beach in the afternoon only. The waves are really strong here, children can not swim in the sea. Dinner at the restaurant bar and sleep early, I'm exhausted.

Last night was one of the worst of my life. At 8:30 in the evening Felix began to vomit, and vomit, and vomit again. He throws a good party night. Around 5 am, finally, we have begun to sleep. But at 6:00, Zoe started to vomit and vomit and vomit again. But Zoe had no more strength and she had a severe cough. I was really worried. She did not even walk. So we decided to find a doctor immediately. He prescribed gravol and medication for her cough. Already in the afternoon, it was much better. Felix vomits again some time in the day. I was so exhausted that I just wanted to come back home, in my house. I took a nap with Zoe. We spent the day in bed watching movies. Finally in the evening, I spent my first evening alone with Jake. We did listen to a live music in a bar near the hotel. Finally, the evening is well done. I just hope a good night's sleep without having to pick up the vomit.

YES, one night without vomiting. Everyone stayed out. We went to the beach and we played in water and in waves for 2 hours. Beautiful little relaxed day and small romantic evening with live music at the hotel.

Sad to learn this morning that it was turn of my stepfather to be ill. My stepmom and I went for a swim today for 2 hours. It was fantastic. Jake then went to get a body board for the day. So we played in the waves part of the day. I really had fun. My stepfather is a little better tonight. We went to dinner at a pizza resto, jake and I and there was a great singer. It was wonderful, the ambiance was at the rendezvous.

I can not believe we hit the road and that tomorrow we will return to Texas. Still a long road to go back to San Jose. After a long road for three hours we had to stop at a gas station to change a diaper that smelled not roses. I was a little sick at heart so I asked Jake to change the diaper for me. As soon as he lifted the shirt, What a disaster. I have never seen so much shit in my life. It was absolutely everywhere. We had to undress him in the middle of the Gaz station. A nice Tico worker offer to water it with the hose. No real choice, poor Felix the middle of a gaz station, being watered naked by a Tico with the shit flowing everywhere, I could not help but laugh. A video would have been unfortunate, we would have won an Oscar for this film. I laughed again. Finally after a long day of car, we arrived at the hotel near the airport. My beautiful parents leave very early tomorrow morning and we leave around noon.

Cursed night vomited again. I'm so sick of cleaning vomit. Lucky that we go home today. Felix has vomited all his supper during the night. I feel sick. I just want my house. In addition when you're not home, not your spare, we do the washing by hand, imagine the scent. It has full sense vomits nose across the room, it's really disgusting. I really loved Costa Rica is a country to visit without fail. Counter by traveling with children especially when they are sick is not too much joy. The return trip by plane was okay but now it's me that stomach reverse order. Finally home, not sorry to see my bed. A good bath to relax about that magnificent journey filled with adventure.

C’est le grand départ pour le Costa Rica avec les deux enfants, Zoé 4 ans et Félix 16 mois. Ce voyage à été attendu depuis quelques années. 5 jours avant le Costa Rica, j’ai dû faire un petit voyage imprévu au Canada pour voir ma Grand-mère malade d’une pneumonie. Je suis parti seul avec Félix. C’était un voyage très fatiguant pour Félix ainsi que pour moi. Dès notre retour je devais faire les valises aussitôt pour le Costa Rica car nous partions le lendemain. Malheureusement, Papa a dû aller a l’urgence de l’hôpital à 10h00 du soir car Félix fesait 103.08 de fièvre. Ils ont découvert une infection d’oreille. Il en a pleuré un coup. Pauvre Félix, déjà épuisé de son voyage au canada, de son ostite et du manque de sommeil, il doit repartir pour le Costa Rica. Félix s’est endormi juste avant le vol ainsi qu’au début du vol. Zoé n’a pas arrêté de parler durant le voyage en avion tellement elle était contente. Félix pour sa part, pleurait sans arrêt. Moi, au mieux de mon possible, j’essayais de ne pas perdre les nerfs. J’avais si hâte à se voyage et me voilà si épuisé et à bout de nerfs que j’en ai de la difficulté à apprécier le début du voyage. On a trouver l’hôtel et mes beaux parents sont arrivés vers les 9h00 du soir. Enfin je peux dormir un peu.

Bonne nuit de sommeil et on a pris la route pour notre première destination qui est a Monteverde au beau milieu de la forêt tropicale, la jungle et les montagnes. Il n`y a vraiment pas beaucoup d’indications sur les routes. On y va un peu à l’aveuglette avec les cartes et les guides touristiques. Nous avons traversé les montagnes et les vallées dans des routes de gravier presque impraticable avec la mini fourgonnette que nous avions. La route était très cahoteuse et sinueuse. J’ai vraiment eu très peur lorsque nous tournions près des précipices avec seulement une voie de large. Je suis bien contente qu’on soit arrivé sain et sauve. On a trouvé le chalet à Monteverde qui s’appelle le Los Pinos Cabanas. C’est un beau petit paradis au milieu de la jungle. Nous avons trois chambres et trois salle de bain. En plus nous pouvons aller chercher des légumes frais organique dans leur jardin. C’est fantastique. Zoé commence une bonne toux, mais Félix commence par contre à aller beaucoup mieux.

On est allé se promener dans la jungle avec les enfants et ensuite on est aller en ville en marchant. Ce n’était pas l’idée du siècle car les autos roulent en fous en tournant les coins des rues. Je me suis trouver un peu irresponsable de faire ça avec mes enfants mais c’est une bonne leçon a ne pas faire. Petite journée relaxe a faire l’épicerie et magasinage et bon repas avec légume frais du jardin. Wow que le Costa Rica est magnifique.

Jake est malade, il n’a pas mangé de la journée. On a pris une grande marche en forêt ma belle-mère et les enfants. J’ai vraiment été surprise de voir Zoé faire toute la randonnée et Félix marché une bonne parti aussi. J’en suis encore impressionné. La vue était spectaculaire dans la jungle. Nous sommes allé faire un tour de monorail dans la jungle. Oh, la la, Ça ne semblait pas très sécuritaire. On n’aimait pas vraiment la structure et des drôles de bruits ainsi que des flammèches provenant du monorail ne nous laissait guerre sécurisé. Mais on a tout fait et on est encore vivant pour en parler. Jake ainsi que mon beau père on eu une bonne frousse. On a fini par un bon café gratuit. Souper tranquille au chalet et bon jeu de carte pour finir la soirée.

On est allé visité une ferme de café. On a fait un tour complet de comment le café était manipulé ainsi que la canne à sucre. On a adoré ce tour. On a fait une tour de mini mini carriole tiré par deux bœufs. On était assez près de leur derrière et laissez moi vous dire que lorsqu’ils « * ?% » !& ça pu en maudit. On a eu droit un bon café et on a fait notre bonbon maison. Un tour extraordinaire. Soirée très relaxe.

Une autre belle journée au Costa Rica. Finalement on est parti très tôt vers 7h20 pour allé faire un tour de train dans les montagnes pour voir les paysages et le volcan Arénal ainsi que le Lac Arénal. Le train est fantastique et la vue est tout simplement splendide. On a même pû voir un peu du volcan Arénal et le lac. On a fait une marche en forêt. C’était vraiment une vue a couper le souffle. De retour au chalet nous avons pris un lunch et nous sommes reparti pour la réserve Cloud Forest de Monteverde. Ma belle-mère et moi avons décidé de prendre la marche d’une heure et demi pour voir une peu de la forêt. Nous avons vue notre premier singe. Finalement j’ai continué seul pour aller voir le point de vue qui était un peu plus loin. La vue était époustouflante. J’étais par contre épuisé car je voulais pas faire attendre la famille en bas de la piste, j’ai donc couru une parti de la randonnée. J’ai les jambes mortes mais s’était une bonne exercise physique. Bon dodo, je suis épuisé.

Quel longue journée sur la route. Nous sommes parti pour notre deuxième destination, la Playa Guinee. La plage et le soleil. La route était encore une fois très difficile. 2 heures de route de gravier mais des paysages à couper le souffle. Pauvre Zoé, elle a été malade en chemin. Difficile de trouver l’hôtel, nous avons même dû traverser une rivière sans pont. On croyait vraiment être perdu mais finalement on a trouvé l’hôtel après seulement 6 heures de voyagement. Zoé était encore malade une fois arrivé a l’hôtel. Ce n’est pas des routes facile pour des enfants. Il fait très chaud ici mais la plage est magnifique et les vagues sont immenses. Épuisé du voyage, je me suis couché a 7h30.

J’ai presque pas dormi. Premièrement, je suis pas habitué de dormir avec une telle chaleur et en plus le bébé a pleuré toutes les heures. Ce matin, j’ai vraiment pas eu d’énergie. Je suis allé à la plage dans l’après midi seulement. Les vagues sont vraiment très forte ici, les enfants ne peuvent pas se baigner dans la mer. Souper au resto du bar et dodo très tôt, je suis épuisé.

La nuit passé était une des pires de ma vie. À 8h30 du soir Félix a commencé à vomir, et à vomir, et a encore vomir. Il a vomit une bonne parti de la nuit. Vers 5 h, finalement, nous avons pu commencé à dormir. Mais à 6h00, Zoé a commencé a vomir, et a vomir et a encore vomir. Mais Zoé n’avait plus de force et elle avait une toux très sévère. J’étais vraiment très inquiète. Elle ne marchait même plus. On a donc décidé de trouver un docteur sur le champ. Il a prescrit du gravol et un médicament contre sa toux. Déjà dans l’après-midi, elle allait beaucoup mieux. Félix a vomit encore quelque fois dans la journée. J’étais tellement épuisé que je voulais juste revenir chez nous, dans mes affaires. J’ai pris une bonne sieste avec Zoé. On a passé la journée au lit a regarder des films. Enfin en soirée, j’ai passé ma première soirée en tête à tête avec Jake. On n’a même écouté un ban live dans un bar près de l’hôtel. Finalement, la soirée c’est bien terminé. J’espère juste une bonne nuit de sommeil sans avoir a ramasser du vomit.

YOUPPI, une nuit sans vomit. Tout le monde à bien dormi. On est allé à la plage et on a joué dans l’eau et dans les vagues pendant 2 heures. Belle petite journée relaxe et en soirée petite soirée romantique avec musique a l’hôtel.

Triste d’apprendre ce matin que c’était au tour de mon beau père a être malade. Ma belle-mère et moi sommes allé nous baigner se matin pendant 2 heures. C’était fantastique. Ensuite Jake est allé chercher un body board pour la journée. Nous avons donc joué dans les vagues une partie de la journée. J’ai vraiment eu beaucoup de plaisir. Mon beau-père va un peu mieux ce soir. On est allé souper dans une pizzaria, jake et moi et il y avait un chansonnier. C’était super, l’ambiance était au rendez-vous.

Je peux pas croire que nous devons repartir sur la route et que demain nous reprendrons l’avion pour le texas. Encore une longue route a faire pour revenir a San Jose. Après une longue routes de 3 heures nous avons du arrêter en chemin dans une station à essence pour changer une couche qui sentait pas les roses. J’avais un peu mal au cœur et j’ai donc demandé a Jake de changer la couche pour moi. Aussitôt qu’il a levé la camusole, OUACH, quel désastre. J’ai jamais vue tant de marde de ma vie. Il y en avait absolument partout. On a du le déshabiller au milieu de la station service. Un gentil Tico de la station nous a offer de l’arroser avec le boyau. Pas vraiment le choix, pauvre Félix au milieu d’une station service, se faire arroser tout nu par un Tico au boyau avec de la marde qui coule de partout, je pouvais pas faire autrement que d’en rire. Une vidéo aurait fait malheur, on aurait gagné un oscar pour ce film. J’en rit encore, j’en reviens même pas. Finalement après une longue journée d’auto, on est arrivé à l’hôtel près de l’aéroport. Mes beaux parents partent très tôt demain matin et nous partons vers midi.

Maudite nuit de vomit encore. Je suis tellement écoeuré de nettoyer du vomit. Une chance qu’on rentre chez nous aujourd’hui. Félix a tout vomit son souper dans la nuit. Je me sens malade. J’en peu plus, je veux juste ma maison. En plus quand tu n’es pas chez vous, ta pas de rechange, on fait le lavage a la main, IMAGINEZ la senteur. Ca sens le vomit a plein nez dans toute la chambre, c’est vraiment DÉGUEULASSE. J’ai vraiment adoré le Costa Rica, c’est un pays a visiter sans faute. Par Contre voyager avec des enfants surtout lorsqu’ils sont malades, c’est pas trop la joie. Le voyage de retour en avion a été correct mais c’est moi maintenant qui a l’estomac a l’envers. Enfin la maison, pas fâché de voir mon lit. Un bon bain pour relaxer du voyage magnifique rempli d’aventures.
